Learning Commons Services

In its mission to provide resources and services that enable the University of Calgary in Qatar community to discover, evaluate, apply, and communicate information for learning, teaching, and professional practice the Learning Commons offers its users a number of services listed below.

Help/Reference Services

The Learning Commons is here to help you use the electronic and print resources to research your topic and to answer questions that you may have.

We are available in person at the Learning Commons or if you want to make an appointment, contact us in person, by phone (+974 4406 5231) or send an email.

Writing Centre

The UCQ Writing Centre is here to work with you to develop your writing skills -- to improve your grammar and language usage, to learn more about APA, or just to take a second look at your assignment.

Once authenticated, UCQ students can access the UCQ electronic resources from wherever they have internet access. Due to license restrictions, these electronic resources are available off-campus only to UCQ students, faculty and staff.

If you need a journal article or a book chapter, and that item is not available to you electronically, you can order it and the Learning Commons will endeavour to obtain it for you. Find out how to order items not available electronically.

Institutional Repository

Archive your publications in Dspace, and make them widely available over the internet - Information from UofC Library.

The resources and services of the Learning Commons at the University of Calgary in Qatar are available to the Nurses and the Nursing Community of Qatar and the Gulf Region. Due to licensing restrictions, the electronic resources can only be used when on the campus at UCQ.

Set up a 1-hour appointment at the Learning Commons for help with searching the UCQ resources and doing your search.
Please give us at least 24 hours notice to arrange a suitable time for your appointment.

Available to use in the Learning Commons at UCQ.

InterLibrary Loans

Print books can be borrowed from University of Calgary in Qatar, but it must be done through your library
To do so, go to your institute's library and request an InterLibrary Loan

Electronic Resources

These resources are available through University of Calgary Library
You must visit the Learning Commons at University of Calgary in Qatar to use these resources.
These electronic resources are available to anyone who visits the Learning Commons.
Due to license restrictions, the electronic resources are available off-campus only to UCQ students, faculty and staff.

InterLibrary Loans for Qatar Libraries

To request an InterLibrary Loan from the University of Calgary in Qatar, please submit a request through the black box entitled Interlibrary Loan on our landing page.
