Arlene Acallar Masaba, RN, MSN is the Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC) Coordinator for University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ). Her background in teaching various levels and stages of education in the Philippines combined with her 15-year experience as a pediatric nurse at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Toronto, Ontario, Canada provided her the best opportunity to transition to academia. Arlene was a nursing instructor for the HMC-Sickkids Project from 2010-2014. Her current focus is on the exploration, support and application of simulation as a teaching modality to maximize student learning success. Arlene is also the faculty lead for UCQ’s Academic Best Practice Spotlight organization pre-designation with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario’s International Best Practice Guideline Program.
