Academic Appeals

The university acknowledges that there are some circumstances where students will wish to challenge grades or decisions. For official policies on academic appeals, see the appeals section of the University of Calgary Academic Calendar.

How to appeal:

Appeals initiated by students in the BN Regular Program and Post-Diploma programs will be governed by the University’s regulations and procedures. Appeals at the Faculty level must be in writing, directed to the Dean, and submitted within 15 days of the event or ruling giving rise to the appeal.

The letter of appeal must clearly state:

  • The decision being appealed
  • Grounds for appeal
  • Remedy sought
  • Any special circumstances which warrant an appeal

If sufficient grounds are not specified on the letter of appeal, the Chairperson of the Committee on Appeals may refuse to entertain the appeal.
